EXPERIENENCES AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE IN TREE SPECIES CLASSIFICATION BASED ON HYPERSPECTRAL DATA

Between 15th and 20th May, 2016 MSc Aneta Modzelewska had the opportunity to exchange experiences and observations in tree species classification based on hyperspectral data with a world class specialist in using hyperspectral data in forestry - Dr Fabian Fassnacht, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

The training was concerned on application of the hyperspectral imagery acquired in the LIFE+ ForBioSensing PL project for tree species classification in the Białowieża Forest. The specific knowledge was transferred, which refers to application of various algorithms for images’ processing and its classification with use of R programming language.
MSc Aneta Modzelewska has also promoted Project’s acquirements in collecting and analysing hyperspectral data.
The training resulted in applying new algorithms of tree species classification in the Project and there are also plans of joint articles.
