Białowieża Forest, admiring biodiversity: More and more signs of spring

Nature awakens despite the ongoing epidemic. In this difficult time, when we are obliged to keep a safe distance from others, we come to you with a short photo report taken in the Forest by one of our field employees:

  • Hepatica (Hepatica nobilis Mill.) - a species of perennial plant from the buttercup family. It grows in fertile deciduous forests: beech forests, oak-hornbeam forests and luminous oak forests.
  • Yellow goldfish (Gagea lutea) - a species of perennial from the lily family. It can be found mainly in deciduous forests (especially in riparian forests and hornbeam forests), in parks, and on wooded slopes of streams. It often grows in the company of the yellow anemone.
  • Wood anemone (Anemone nemorosa L.) - a species of perennial from the family of buttercups. It blooms massively in spring decorating deciduous and mixed forests in almost all Europe.

The photos also show water in alder forests after winter thaws.

We encourage you to look for even the smallest manifestations of spring.
