POLSCAN - I national Forum of LIDAR Users

POLSCAN - 1st National Forum dedicated to LiDAR users took place on October 22-23 in Sękocin Stary. The main purpose of this event was to create a permanent nationwide FORUM for the exchange of information and practical implementations between the end-user sectors, scientists and companies offering their acquisition or processing methods.

On the eve of FORUM, there were workshops devoted to spatial, terrestrial and aerial laser scanning, as well as visualization of acquired data. The lecturers were, among others employees of the Institute of Geomatics IBL, mgr Aneta Modzelewska "Introduction to spatial analyzes in the R language" and dr inż. Bartłomiej Kraszewski "R as a tool for processing large LiDAR data sets".

During the Forum there were plenary and technical sessions focused around the topics: laser scanning data processing, environmental and methods of collecting them. Among the speakers was also the ForBioSensing team, which gave a presentation entitled "Estimation of taxation characteristics of stands using ALS", based on data collected during the 4 years of the project. The experience gained during the work in the Forest created a field to share with the forum participants impressions about the latest technologies used in forestry.

In parallel with the technical sessions taking place, the participants of the event could also get acquainted with the ForBioSensing project at a specially prepared promotional stand. At it, people were informed about current tasks carried out under the project and all questions that appeared on the part of participants were answered.

We are glad that we could present the ForBioSensing project to all participants of the POLSCAN Forum and take part in this unique event.
