Forbiosensing at the 6th International Scientific Conference "Tourism in valuable natural areas" in Białowieża

On October 17-18 the ForBioSensing team took part in the 6th International Scientific Conference 'Tourism in valuable natural areas', organized on behalf of the Institute of Forest Sciences of the Bialystok University of Technology, the Kronenberg Institute (Foundation for the Future of Protected Areas) and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

At the invitation of the above Institutions, representatives of the Forest Research Institute delivered two presentations: "Social and economic conditions for recreation in the forest" - dr hab. Piotr Gołos, during the presentation, raised the important issue of social expectations regarding the implementation of recreational forests. The significance of this non-production function of the forest is constantly growing, society expects the forest to be available and prefers to stay in stands with specific features. The increasing importance of the recreational function of the forest results, among other things, from the fact that the "private time" (leisure) resource is more than "public (work) time. The current period of human development has therefore been called the "era of leisure".

The second presentation was given by the ForBioSensing deputy project manager. Dr. Eng. Damian Korzybski briefly presented the scope of data and information about the stands of the Polish part of the Białowieża Forest, collected in the ForBioSensing project for almost 5 years. Then the guests present at the conference were invited to watch the project film entitled "Life of a Tree", which was recorded without the presence of man, so as to fully reflect the natural beauty of the Bialowieza Forest. The production presented received great applause and recognition among conference participants. A promotional stand of the Project was also exhibited during the event. It was possible to obtain information about current tasks performed by ForBioSensing employees and to view measuring tools used in the field.

Thank you to the organizers for a successful meeting.
