Open data - ForBioSensing at the conference in Białowieża

At the headquarters of the Mammal Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, in one place: foresters, scientists, government administration, representatives of companies, naturalists, discussed the sharing of scientific data and involving society in collecting information on the environment.

During the conference "Open data - preserving heritage and potential for the future", the e-Puszcza project was presented, and the program also included: presenting the results of ringing as an unused source of data on changes in bird ecology in the last century, a presentation showing collecting and sharing satellite data for environmental monitoring purposes and presenting the ForBioSensing project.

Deputy Project Manager, dr inż. Damian Korzybski, presented a reusable range of data and information about the stands of the Polish part of the Białowieża Forest, collected in the ForBioSensnig project for almost 5 years. The daily tasks carried out in the project related to monitoring the stands of the Białowieża Forest, those performed using traditional ground measurements as well as remote sensing observations provide valuable data, information and Know-How for many Institutions and organizations.

During the event, we issued our promotional stand to inform the conference participants - how and why we monitor the Białowieża Forest and what methods of observing stands we use. We presented our guests with a device for ground measurements - a dendrometer, thanks to which monitoring of forest stands is carried out on an unknown and immeasurable scale. Our scientific publications that spread to one art were very popular. This is proof that our actions are needed and interesting.

We thank the organizers for the opportunity to participate in the conference.
