Forbiosensing at the ForestSAT 2018 International Conference!

On 2-5 October 2018, in the city of College Park in Maryland (USA), the International ForestSAT Conference 2018 was held. ForestSAT (The Association for Forest Spatial Analysis Technologies) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting both technology and cooperation in the application of spatial analyzes in forestry all over the world. Professionals organized in this organization actively promote the use of spatial techniques and analyzes to manage forest ecosystems, both at the stage of their inventory and monitoring of changes occurring there. ForestSAT aims to facilitate cooperation between research organizations, universities, government agencies and the private sector on a global and regional scale. You can read more about the organization on the official website http://forestsat.com

The ForestSAT2018 conference is the eighth meeting, which is a forum for discovering and discussing the latest research in the field of remote sensing and geomatics for forest applications. During this year's conference, dr hab. Krzysztof Stereńczak delivered two papers: "Combining airborne and spaceborne optical, and Lidar datasets for tree mortality monitoring in the Polish part of Białowieża Forest" regarding our ForBioSensnig project and "Prediction of forest stand based on Airborne Laser Scanning in managed forests. Central Europe - Polish case study "regarding the results of the Rembiofor project.

Presented lectures focused on works carried out in Polish forests, also in the Polish area of the Białowieża Primeval Forest. The Forbiosensing team had the opportunity to present their experiences and the results obtained so far in the project. The methods of collecting and using remote sensing data in the context of monitoring of large forest ecosystems characterized by a complex horizontal and vertical structure have become an important issue in the presented issues. Presented papers met with interest of the conference participants who appreciated the advanced methodological studies used in the projects.
